Masad Alfayadh Masad is a third year medical student at Monash University. She is very interested in Global Health and Indigenous Health. Hence, she was extremely ecstatic when accepted to be part of the TeamMED Uganda Trip. This will be her first volunteering opportunity overseas and she is sure it will be a life-defining experience. Other things Masad currently does in her life include being a teacher on Saturdays at a language school, volunteering in the community and mentoring some high school students. |
Annie Girdwood Annie is a 19 year-old first year medical student from Melbourne. Despite the course she's enrolled in, she loves drawing, photography and sewing, and grabs any opportunity she gets in her spare time to do something creative. Annie's areas of interest in the medical sphere include refugee and asylum seeker health, public health and maternal & child health. |
Chloe Higgins Chloe is a second year student who likes skiing and baking. She is interested in medical research and therefore spends most of her days off in the research laboratories at the Royal Children's Hospital. Chloe is also keen to learn about different cultures and languages so is studying Chinese, being already fluent in French and English. She also loves travelling and volunteering, hence the trip to Africa! |
Erin Howells Erin is 21 years old and grew up in a small town in Tasmania before moving to Melbourne to study medicine at university. She is in the third year of her degree which means she is in the hospital, learning lots of new skills and getting a lot of patient contact. She is looking forward to going to Uganda so she can put some of the knowledge and skills she has learnt so far into practice to make a difference in the health of the Ugandan people. Outside of medicine Erin takes dance lessons and has just started playing netball with some of her uni friends! |
Clare Matheson
Clare was a small animal veterinarian in a previous life before making the switch to human medicine. She still loves animals of all species, particularly dogs, and dreams of one day being able to work simultaneously in both careers! She is particularly passionate about global & Indigenous health. In her spare time Clare enjoys baking, reading, travelling both at home and overseas, and managing this website. |
Madhurima Prayaga Madhu is an Indian-born Australian who was raised in Queensland and is consequently not a huge fan of Melbourne weather. She enjoys running (when it’s not too cold) as well as reading and writing. Madhu has always been passionate about taking action and standing up for the things she believes in and has particular interests in global health and social justice. |
Fraser Tankel Fraser hails from Coffs Harbour, NSW, but in spite of this loves (Australian) football, along with playing saxophone and studying anatomy (of course). He is a terrible cook but makes up for this with his ability to eat anything that he has not had to cook himself. He has a keen interest in global health, with the ambition of one day working for MSF. |
