It's been a crazy couple of months here at TeamMED Uganda. We have all battled our way through end of year exams while doing last minute logistical planning and fundraising.
While most of us don't fly out until the new year, some of us are leaving Australia early and are busily doing our packing whilst enjoying the Christmas festivities.
Our fundraising efforts have far exceeded our initial $4000 target and we would like to thank everyone who has generously contributed. Particular thanks go to the Rotary groups of Ulverstone West, Camberwell, Manningham and Box Hill, all of whom have made very generous contributions. We will be presenting at their meetings early in the new year.
We are also very grateful to Melbourne University Health Initiative (muhi.org.au) who have been able to supply us with various medical supplies to take over.
$3000 has already been sent through to the Suubi Health Clinic with over $4500 remaining, some of which will be used to purchase further medical supplies & equipment here to take over, with the remainder being put towards a 'big ticket' piece of medical equipment on Suubi's wish list - possibly a CD4 count machine, which monitors the progression of HIV, therapy response, and helps to determine when to begin treatment.
We hope to be able to keep you updated from Uganda, dependent on whether we have wifi access. If not, we look forward to sharing our adventures upon our return!
